Red Hat Satellite alternative for mixed Windows and Linux fleets

Red Hat Satellite is built for RHEL. If your fleet also runs Windows, Ubuntu, or Debian, here is how Gardience covers all of it from one console, with patching, STIG and CMMC evidence, and approvals.

Red Hat Satellite is very good at one thing: the lifecycle of RHEL machines, from content views to provisioning. If every server you run is RHEL, it belongs in your stack, and it often comes with your Red Hat subscriptions.

Most fleets are not all RHEL. They have Windows file servers and domain controllers, Ubuntu application servers, Debian appliances, and a few Rocky or AlmaLinux machines someone stood up for a project. Satellite does not manage those, so teams run a second tool for Windows, a third for the others, and stitch the reports together for the auditor.

One console for the whole fleet

Gardience is built on open-source Salt and runs on your own Linux server, inside your network. One agent on every machine connects out to it.

Keep Satellite where it shines

Gardience does not have to replace Satellite on day one. Many teams keep Satellite as the RHEL content source and let Gardience patch, prove, and approve across everything, Windows included. Your RHEL machines keep their Red Hat repositories; Gardience applies the updates on your schedule and records the evidence.

Your Ansible comes with you

If your RHEL automation is written in Ansible, Gardience runs those playbooks as they are, over the Salt connection, on Windows too, with no WinRM listener on the machine.
